Medium tank M2 - variant overview


T5 Phase I - prototype, medium tank using part of the light tank M2; a 37mm cannon M3
T5 Phase III - a prototype with the driver's compartment moved to the left, which led to the asymmetrical shape of the front armour plate, and other minor modifications
T5E1 - label for the T5 Phase III with diesel engine Guiberson, maybe only the project
T5E2 Gun Motor Carriage - T5 Phase III with the 75mm howitzer M1A1 located in the right part of the hull and turret with a machine gun and rangefinder; this conversion from the year 1939 became the basis for the M3 medium tank.
M2 - medium tank, a series based on the prototype T5; 18 pcs
M2A1 - serial variant with a new turret and reinforced armour for the perpendicular areas; 94 pcs, production in the Chrysler company in Detroit canceled in favor of the M3,only a wooden mock-up built here.
