Weapon system LCZ - B.

At the beginning of the 1990s, the Czech army tested in VTÚVM Slavičín the concept of automatic weapons based on the principle of semi-locked breech /partially locked with reduced mass/. This principle is not new for Czech designers either, apart from well-known foreign weapons such as HK MP5 or FAMAS it was used in the unrealized Czechoslovak URZ weapon system. The technical solution offered by the Russian designer Baryshev was attractive in that it did not conflict with patent rights of other companies, and while maintaining a certain heredity of components, it allowed to build a range of weapons with calibers from 9x19 /Eo of about 0.5 kJ/ to large-calibre machine guns or grenade launchers with Eo over 20 kJ/. Functional samples built according to the original documentation and under the supervision of the designer did not achieve the expected reliability and the army therefore stopped the project. The project leader Col. ing. Ladislav Findorák, however, trusted the concept and embarked on a difficult and uncertain career as a self-employed man to simplify the design and technology of the breech. The result was a new protected design and a collection of prototypes in 4 breech sizes that were assembled using parts from AK, LADA and other weapons to speed things up. Weapons firing from the rear breech position demonstrated reduced recoil and increased stability when firing bursts. Weapons can be modified to fire from the forward bolt position, suitable for building a precision self-loading sniper rifle without taking gases from the barrel.

Functional samples are from 1995, so they still lack the most fashionable designs of stocks, rails with sights, lasers and illuminators on which the current professional fighters take such pride.
