London Aircraft Production Group

In 1940 it was in the context of the militarization of industry organized a group most of the automotive factories of the vicinity of London, known as the London Aircraft Production Group, to the united forces produced heavy bomber Handley Page Halifax. The director of this group became lord Ashfield, the director of one of the main companies of this group, the London Passenger Transport Board. The members of the group was also Chrysler Motors, which was making the rear part of the hull, Duplex Bodies and Motors, producing the bow, Express Motor and body Works producing the inner part of the wings and Park Royal Coachworks Abbey Road as a manufacturer of the external parts of the wings and engine nacelles. London Transport then made the middle part of the fuselage and final assembly and testing and also carried out the coordination of the individual companies. Available should the LPT workshop in Chiswick and Altenhamu, later there was built a new factory in Leavesdenu, where they have been moved to the final work and tests. The first Halifax was the london group completed in 1941, the last of the 710 constructed, B Mk.III Serial No PN 640 named London Pride, was the air force handed over in may 1945. Due to the high share of unskilled workers were the london halifaxy, nicknamed London Bus, despite getting the decent quality of the production and testing of each machine zalétávacími piles Handley Page a little less popular than the products of other manufacturers.
