Защитный шлем ЗШ-10 нового поколения...
The next generation protective helmet for PAK-FA pilots will be developed by the end of this year

"The next-generation protective helmet for pilots Sukhoi T-50 (PAK-FA project) will be developed by the end of this year, its development is being carried out by NPP Zvezda" (НПП - Научно-производственное предприятие - Vědecko-výrobní podnik).

This information was reported to the Interfax-AVN agency by the enterprise's general director and chief designer Sergei Pozdnikov.

"When conducting flight tests of the fifth-generation fighter aircraft, a conventional ZS-7 flight helmet has been used so far. We have been given the task to develop a new helmet ZS-10 - a helmet for the new aircraft - by the end of the year," Pozdnikov said.

According to him, the task before them is to make a helmet cheaper than those currently in use and with a useful life of 15 years.

"While working on the development of the new helmet, we have examined helmets produced in France and Israel, but I will say that they resemble more like plastic toys, whose lifetime is about one to two years," the director said.

He said foreign flight helmets cannot withstand the acceleration with which Russian ejection seats operate.

There is another important requirement for a helmet - weight. "The main thing is that the helmet should be light, fit well on the head and not 'sag'. This is because the targeting system that will be mounted on the new helmet assumes a sufficiently rigid fixation of the helmet on the head", Sergei Pozdnikov concluded his information.
