Vrtulník typu Bell UH-1H Iroquois (reg. NZ3806, c/n 11705), z 3. letky RNZAF ze základny Ohakea, havaroval v husté mlze při cestě na ANZAC Day v Aucklandu.
K nehodě došlo přibližně 65 km severovýchodně od Wellingtonu.
Tři členové posádky při nehodě zemřeli:
pilot Flight Lieutenant Hayden Madsen
copilot Flying Officer Daniel Gregory
člen posádky Corporal Benjamin Carson


Čtvrtý byl s vážnými zraněními převezen do nemocnice ve Wellingtonu.
