In 5/1944, reports mention the conversion of a Borgward B IV a/b demolition vehicle to the ammunition version. The sample vehicle was to be ready on 5/25/1944. It is reported that 25 B IV vehicles are at the Borgward factory, the remaining vehicles at the Infanterie-Schule Döberitz. Identified serial numbers were in the range Fgst.Nr. 360214 - 360710. The vehicles were stripped of the explosive charge and a simple ammunition storage compartment structure made of steel banding was formed on the sides of the hull above the fenders. In this storage compartment, boxes of Faustpatrone, or 12 cm Wurfgranaten, 8 cm and Patronenkasten 88 could be carried. The vehicles were intended for the supply units of the infantry units. On 28 July 1944, six ammunition supply units (gep. Mun. Schlepper Kompanien) began to be organized, for which one hundred vehicles were to be delivered. These were to be gepanzerter Munition-Schlepper Kompanie 801 - 806. According to regulation K.St.N.199 (Vers) dated 1.8.1944, each gepanzerter Munition-Schlepper Kompanie was to have a trio of platoons, which were to have five vehicles each. Thus, in total, one Kompanie was to have 15 B IV ammunition vehicles. Three units were to be formed in 8/1944, three units in 9/1944. So far they were without the necessary vehicles. Subsequently, the individual formed units were assigned to the higher units' statuses see. Table.
