Ponorka opustila přístav Bergen dne 03.01.1944 s 39 torpédy na palubě, která byla určená pro lodě na dálném východě. Ponorka se dostala až do Penangu dne 19.4.1944, kde byla vyložena torpéda. 15.07.1944 ponorka opustila Penang a plavila se zpět do Evropy. Dne 30. září byla v centrálním Atlantiku lokalizována americkým eskortním torpédoborcem DE-142 USS Fessenden, který ji poté potopil hlubinnými náložemi.


Všech 55 ponorkářů zahynulo.
The boat left Bergen, Norway on 03.01.1944 with 39 torpedoes to supply the Monsun boats in the far east. The boat did better than U-1059 and made it to Penang on 19.04.1944. The boat unloaded the torpedoes and left Penang for Europe on 15.07.1944 but was intercepted by an escort carrier group in the central Atlantic on 30.09.1944 where the destroyer escort DE-142 USS Fessenden sank her with depth charges.
