He was born on 16.01.1921 in Wachtel, Czechoslovakia, the son of a furnace builder. After working as a farmer in September 1940, he joined the SS and was trained as an anti-aircraft gunner. From 12/1940 he was a member of the 3rd /SS-Flak-Abt. 1941 combat baptism on the eastern front in the Umana section, later at Rostov and in the trenches near the river Mius. 01/1942 Iron Cross 2nd Class and Infantry Assault Badge, constant deployment against enemy air, infantry, tanks and bunkers successively 3 times lightly wounded. After the offensive and retreat from the Caucasus 1943 he participated in the battles of Stalin, and Kanev. He proved himself as 88mm gun commander at Cherkassy and Kovel as Uscha. In September 1944, he was awarded the Iron Cross First Class. On the Polish front in October 1944 in heavy fighting against attacking Soviet infantry and tanks. For holding his position during all enemy attacks he achieved nine tank kills, along with repelling attacking infantry for which he was awarded the Knight's Cross on 16 November 1944. On the Hungarian front as Oscha. He was a squad leader of a flak squad during the offensive at Balaton and during the breakthrough of the boiler at Stuhlweissenburg, followed by a retreat by fighting into Austria after all officers had fallen away he took command of the remnants of the anti-aircraft detachment. British and US captivity until February 1948, in civilian life for 12 years as a foreman of miners and then until 1979 as a clerk for a shipping company.
