Union for Cooperation with the Army
- formed: 04.11.1951
- dissolved: 24.03.1990
- used the abbreviation: Svazarm
Svazarm was a Czechoslovak conscription organization allegedly modeled after the Soviet DOSAAF. Which I personally consider to be gibberish, as there were several conscription societies operating in the pre-war and post-war republic that were the template for the party-controlled organization. There were retired CSLA officers in leadership positions up to the level of district pohlavars. Officially, the Svazarm brought together those interested in conscription sports. Cynologists, riflemen, radio amateurs, sports car drivers and aviators could operate within the Svazarm. Part of the training of conscripts for the army was the teaching of new drivers in driving schools, the training of pilots in aeroclubs, radio operators in radio rings, ...
For many years Svazarm also covered a number of activities that had little to do with conscription and the proclaimed link to the army. In the sixties and seventies, various military history clubs, or friends of whatever, found refuge under the protective wings of Svazarm. For example, the Jonah Club became 602. ZO Svazarm, which dealt with computer technology and publishing activities. The Historical Swordsmen's Club was attached to the Svazarm organization of the Military History Museum in Hradčany. In Wallachian Meziříčí, Modela, a so-called enterprise of the Svazarm Central Committee, was established, which published the famous drawing books entitled: Building Plastic Models (SPM), Ship Models and others.
The House of Trade and Services of Svazarm (DOSS) was opened in Prague on Národní třída, which earned the nickname Red House due to the red colour of its interior. Quite often there were crowds of buyers and model makers of all kinds. U 943. ZO Svazarm the JOK of diffrology was founded and operated.
Remembers of Svazarm
In early 1990, the leading officials of Svazarm decided to withdraw from the National Front and renamed the union the Association of Technical Sports and Activities. Almost all of the assets of the defunct Svazarm were transferred to the STSČ.
In 1994, after the collapse of Czechoslovakia, it was reorganized again and renamed the Association of Sports Associations of the Czech Republic. At present, the SSSČR brings together the following organisations:
