The submarine Karp was wrecked in a storm on 04.11.1935 in Ussuri Gulf while returning from a training cruise. The submarine was wedged between the rocks and abandoned by the crew. On 27-28.03.1936 the condition of the submarine was assessed by experts from the specialized institute EPRON (Экспедиция подводных работ особого назначения) and on 03.04.1936 the submarine was towed to Vladivostok. As the repair was judged ineffective, the submarine was gradually dismantled and cut up for scrap, despite the fact that it still figured in the line-up of vessels of the 11th Submarine Detachment of the 1st Submarine Brigade. The now-defunct submarine was then decommissioned on 15.06.1939.
