OT-7 (ChBT-7)

In August of 1936 took place (according to the Tank plan was to have each type of tank your plamenometnou and engineer-bridge version) the first test flamethrower tank on the platform of the BT-7.

The first variant was on wing two square 300-gallon tank on the accelerant (armour 10 mm) and in a mask gun was mounted flamethrower KS-40. Machine gun and cannon were removed, which reduced his effectiveness in the fight against armored targets and manpower and also the life in the fight. The prototype under the designation ChBT-7 was not accepted to the armament for the above-mentioned shortcomings. Another prototype with similar fate was the design of the NATI. For it was the armament of the tower is maintained, but the location of the mouth of the flamethrower to the left of the driver he inlet pipe basically impossible activity.

As a more viable appeared to be the prototype of the OT-7 of 1937, for the standard BT-7 with the old towers at the ceiling of the hull right above the driver mounted flamethrower KS-63 and above the wings two on the sides of the rounded tank. After acceptance into the armaments of the machine came from the factory ChPZ already with the towers a conical. Since the original armament remained, it has increased its martial value and the machine was able to perform the required tasks.
Flamethrower KS-63, produced the race of the Compressor, he was able to with a stock of 170 liters of incendiary mixture to perform 11 to 17 zášlehů at a distance of 60 to 90 feet (depending on conditions). Reading the flamethrower was 55 degrees, the elevation 12 and the depression 9 degrees.

According to some sources it was in 1939 handed over the units to about 80 units, according to the other created this vehicle in only two prototypes.

In 1940, there were tests of the use of a flamethrower on the BT-7, while maintaining the original equipment of the tank (unlike the ChBT-7). The PS-63 flamethrower was used, according to the available information it was capable of 10 - 12 bursts of the incendiary mixture up to a distance of 70 m. The flamethrower was placed on the right fender, as visible in the photo. He aimed by turning the whole vehicle at the target. The aim of the flamethrower was to be up to 55 degrees.
