Pluk dosiahol bojovú pohotovosť v roku 1953. Skladal sa z veliteľskej roty a z trôch prieskumných rôt. Pluk bol vyzbrojený prieskumnými obrnenými automobilmi M8 Greyhound a M3 Scout Car a samohybnými húfnicami M8 HMC. Pluk bol pod francúzskym velením.
