On June 1, 1966, Vnitřní stráž was abolished. The main tasks of the troops of the Ministry of Interior included guarding the seat of the president, securing activities Ministries of Interior and deployment of emergency security measures. From July 1976 to June 1978, the administration of the Ministry of the Interior was subordinated to the Main Administration of the Border Guard and State Border Guard. After that, she was again subordinated directly to the Deputy Federal Minister of the Interior.
The troops of the Ministry of the Interior consisted of Security Security Regiment FMV Prague, 5. training regiment FMV Frýdek-Místek, Castle Guard, FMV Sports Club and FMV operational company. A maximum of 3,200 members served in them. The administration of the troops of the Ministry of the Interior also managed the special purpose department, ie a special unit SNB. The troops of the Ministry of the Interior ceased to exist along with the dissolution of the Czech-Slovak Federation. Their successor became the Troops of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, which existed in the period from 1 January to 30 June 1993. Units and units deployed in the Slovak Republic became subordinated to the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic from 1 January 1993 as Troops of the Ministry of the Interior and expired on 31.12.2002.
