SOV - 1V15 (velitelské stanoviště)

The squad leader's vehicle 1V15 (VVO) is the mobile command and observation post of the squad ( battery). It is designed to reconnoiter and direct the fire of the troop (battery) in close coordination with the motorized artillery and tank units during combat.


The VVO operates in the combat formation of the supported artillery (tank) unit and is positioned near the command and observation position (CAP) of the artillery (tank) unit in a location that allows for observation of the battlefield, reconnaissance, fire control, and vehicle camouflage.


The VVO provides the solution to these tasks :


- reconnaissance of the enemy and terrain,


- determining the coordinates of own position and orientation bearings,


- determining coordinates of targets,


- firing and correcting fire,


- maintaining liaison with the superior artillery commander, subordinate and supported unit commanders.


1V15 vehicle equipment:


(a) Reconnaissance and observation instruments : laser rangefinder 1D8, combined observation instrument 1PN44, stereoscopic rangefinder DS-1, tank observation instruments TNPO-170, coordinate converter 1T804, radiation and chemical reconnaissance instruments GO-27,


(b) instruments for topographic-geodetic connection and orientation :1G-121-1, gyroscopic compass 1G-25-1, rangefinder DSP-30, buzzer PAB-2AM,


(c) communication equipment : rdst R-123 2 pcs, R-111, R-130M, R-107, call equipment 1T-80 3M, field telephone exchange P-19M, 2 pcs field telephone TA-57, 3 coils TK-2 of 500 m cable P-274M,


(d) apparatus for determination of firing elements : PUO-9M, apparatus for determination of cumulative repairs,


e) means of protection : filter-ventilation, hot-air, decontamination,


(f) sources of electrical voltage : power pack, generator GIV-8/6000, accumulators,


(g) armament : RPG-7VN + 5 rounds, 7.62 mm PKMB machine gun.


The combat activity of the VVO is controlled by the detachment commander.

The vehicle's T T D are identical to the ML-LBu tracked armoured vehicle.
