German static flamethrower, used in defense as a complement to minefields. The range was about 50m with a flash time of 5 - 10 seconds. The whole weapon was buried, and only the bent pipe protruded above the ground. The smaller inclined tube contained the propellant charge and provided the launch. The firing could be initiated either electrically or mechanically. The weapon was used both in static defense (ports, fortifications, etc.) and in the field to protect minefields, barricades and the like. The standard procedure was that the weapon was buried so that only a horizontal piece of tube protruded above the ground and a wire from the bait was brought to the lighter.
