Film vypráví příběh admirála Kolčaka. První třetina filmu popisuje jeho boje v řadách ruského námořnictva za první světové války(právě námořní bitvy jsou velmi pěkně spracované), zbytek filmu se pak věnuje jeho účasti v Kerenského vládě a následně jeho role na Sibiři. Ve filmu jsou nejednou zmíněni i čs. legionáři a generál Janin - i když v dosti negativním světle.
