Carro de Combato Ligero "Verdeja" no.2

After Verdeja 1 was cancelled, Verdeja 1, Captain Verdeja continued further development based on lessons learned from the fighting of the incipient World War II. The new machine was a standard concept, with the engine compartment in the rear of the hull and the turret located in the forward section. Production of the prototype Verdeja 2 began in 1942, but was not completed until 1944. Due to the supply of German equipment Pz.Kpfw.IV and StuG III. Due to the inclusion of a certain number of these tanks and self-propelled guns in army units and constant financial problems, the Verdeja program bit the dust until 1950, when attempts were made to revive the program by installing the Pegas Z-202 engine. This modified machine remained at the factory until 1973, when it was sent to the infantry academy in Toledo, where it remains on the memorial to this day.
