Diskuse

Dear colleagues.
A friend from abroad got the depicted belt buckle with the fact that it was supposedly made in the USSR and delivered to our military unit. The buckle has an interesting shape. Were the components really manufactured in the USSR? I was under the impression that it was made in England. Have you come across such a buckle and when could it have been introduced into the equipment of a Czechoslovak unit in the USSR?
I would be grateful for any information.

It certainly wasn't used in the UK. There were only two types of belts worn there, the officer's belt and the canvas P37.

I wouldn't look for anything miraculous. The first delivery of equipment, partly also armament was really from England, in harsh front conditions it did not prove much (helmets and light coats.) The next was already in the direction of the Czechoslovak logistics, at the beginning something was copied from the English patterns, but later on the suggestion of the rear officer and from the experience of the pre-Mnichoiv army, the uniforms became independent in this way. For example, this buckle is obviously of Russian manufacture, see the primitive but effective production, which is very similar to the production of the Tsarist military buckles and buckles. The position of the lion is also quite determinant.Still later the soldiers themselves improved their equipment in a non-prescriptive way. For example, it is known that the tankers themselves produced an addition to their uniform, which was a tank badge, following the pre-war badge, only the Soviet one was used. For example, there was an attempt to wear the Czechoslovak decoration on a Soviet collar, i.e. according to the USSR model, but this was strictly rejected by the corps command.
