Colonel JUDr. Antonín Kavan
born: October 5, 1921, Prague - Záběhlice
- His father worked as a baker
- attended an eye school and a four-year-old burgher
- trained as a car mechanic
- worked, among other things, as a mechanical locksmith
- June 1945 - joining the National Security Corps
- September 1945 - entry into the Communist Party
(first active comrade, gradually passive)
- 1948/49 - his mother expelled from the Communist Party
- At the SNB, he first worked as an educational worker
- in March 1948 he transferred in the rank of guard to the StB, specifically to the monitoring department IV. sector of the BAa group
- June 1948 - commissioned to lead the monitoring department
- after the merger of the investigation and turnout department, he was transferred to the position of Deputy Commander of the Monitoring Department (V. Kozel)
- after Kozl's departure, Kavan became chief of surveillance
- September 1950 - Kavan became Deputy Commander of Sector BAa-IV (A. Prchal)
- in the years 1950-1952, Kavan directly and indirectly participated in the elaboration and arrest of a number of important persons from high internal party, army and even state security circles (Šling, Novomeský, Husáka, Clementis, Švermová, Kopold, London, Reicin, Závodský, Pich- Tůma, Smrkovský, Procházka, Hofman, Haškovec, Outrata, Kroček, Slánský, Geminder, Klapálek, Svoboda)
- February 1951 - taking up the post of commander of the 5th sector
- on January 1, 1953, extraordinarily promoted to the rank of major
- April 1953 - awarded the Order of Labor)
- January 1953 - departure for a one-year state security course in Moscow
- still in the USSR appointed Chief of Staff VII. sector
- January 1954 return
- on February 1, 1954 - in the rank of lieutenant colonel appointed chief of the newly reorganized VII. MV reports
