Brief history: The aircraft was designed as a structurally simpler alternative to the aeroplane 2MB2 Washi. The designer of the army's light bomber was a british engineer Herbert Smith, who was then in Japan he worked. It was a modification of the maritime bomber B1M1. The aircraft was adopted into armament in 1927 as an army light bomber Type 87.
