An improvised firing position using the Stu.K. 40 gun, probably of the L/48 barrel length version, with which the self-propelled guns StuG III and StuG IV were armed. The gun was laffed on an improvised platform made up of steel girders, perhaps it was pinned to the ground with some pins or was concreted. The cannon was given a simple improvised shield to protect both the gun and the operator. The gun in the photo was probably intended to belong to the Festungs-Pak-Verband III (Panzer Kompanie Berlin) fortress unit defending the streets of Berlin in 4-5/1945.
