The Argentine Crusaders no longer had much combat value after World War II, which was mostly declassified by its 2lb gun armament. At the suggestion of Col. Carlos R. Doglioli the decision was made to use the platforms for conversion to self-propelled guns. As more modern artillery equipment was not available, French 105 mm Schneider model 1928 howitzers and a 75 mm Bofors model 1935 gun were used.
