30.10.1995 submarine delivered to nuclear-powered ship recycling program at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA
DD.MM.1997 after the submarine was taken out of service, the foundation sought Mare Island Historic Park Foundation to take ownership of the submarine and return it to the city of Vallejo, CA as a floating museum. The U.S. Congress decided to transfer the submarine USS Drum (SSN-677) to the ownership of the city of Vallejo, CA if all costs associated with deactivating and transporting the submarine to the site are paid. However, this initiative was not successful and the submarine was handed over for scrapping
