The zil 131 is better. On the R 140 there used to be a junction box on the top left.In the superstructure on the left there is a built-in control panel.AB-6-3-400.The R 107 was fitted and there was a charger for power supplies at the control panel. The keying device K-STT1 was fitted. The car had its own generator GAB-8-T/8 kW/ and a power supply part KS-6 37.00.For heating and ventilation traditionally poorly regulated OV-65. and also filtration and ventilation equipment FVUA-100N-12. The whole thing was in a K1.131.2 The other fittings were the same as on the PV3S. the range of long-distance or single-channel single-channel telegraph operation is 1000 to 2000 km. with keyed telegraph 1500 to 2000 km.

The first three pictures in the second post are of the R140 in the Praga V3S. It was assembled almost mirror-like in Ziloch. The mounting in the Ziloch was more "natural" for the radio operator to have the control box on the left side and not obscure his view of the transmitter and especially the source section when keying with his hand. This was important during any malfunction in the power supply when the indicator lights indicated a blown fuse. Handling the control panel was also more comfortable in the ZILs. An advantage of the V3S was the ability to control the APZ (area radiation antenna)directly from the driver's cab. It was not necessary to climb on the roof as in ZIL.

Diskuse

As far as the range of the radio station is concerned, the official figures are quite underestimated. I know from my own experience that during one course for LM officers to operate the R140, one of the trainees heard a radio operator from a Czechoslovakian ship (OK4xxx) call out on the 7 Mhz band. No one answered him, so the trainee, also a radio amateur OK2xxx tuned the transmitter into a 4m pole on the cab of the vehicle and telegraphed the first call. Then it turned out that the ship had sailed from Singapore. And between Singapore and New Town there is a little more than 2000 km and the antenna was also the crappiest for the frequency. The problem came when the contras found out about it. OK2xxx gave its home location as somewhere near Brno and also as its home equipment.
