Dotaz - Medaile, asi první světová válka

Diskuse

Hi, I apologize in advance if I'm writing in the wrong section. I found some medals at home while cleaning out the garage, probably from my great grandfather.

Could you enlighten me as to which medal it is? Any information would be appreciated.

It has a lime branch and the letter Z on the back... is it possible that it is a legionary battle of Zborov?

It is a military badge "Střelec z riušky" - version with exchangeable plate used in the Czechoslovakia. It was used in the army between 1928 and 1948 to mark the performance classes of riflemen. The highest one had a gilded centre. On the back of the buckle is the manufacturer's marking.

Has a colleague from the UK contacted us asking about this badge?

The badge is 65 millimetres in diameter, and may be the work of Gezi Szobel, the name SZOBEL is on the bottom corner. The motif is: two angels surround the body and a fallen warrior holding a (? Broken) sword in his left hand, while his right hand is nailed to a cross. In the background is a Lorraine type cross, and a military fortress probably with an antenna on its roof. The inscription reads: AGDE. TO OUR FALLEN. 2P. PL.
Further on the districts is: MARNE and Loire, and the date 1940. Below is the Latin text: DUM SACRIS patriae LEGIBUS OBSEQUIMUR

On the back of the badge is the dedicatory text: Martha Pepa 1941.
The badge is equipped with a clasp on the back

This badge, but also the plaque was a gift to the family of a fallen soldier abroad. For example, a plaque with the name of the unit commander on the back. This was used in 1940 in France. It's a very interesting thing. I mean, in memory of a fallen soldier. Here it's a mini badge,. worn in the lapel of the garment.
