A14E1

History of origin
The British General Staff was in 1937, inspired by the Soviet medium tank T-28 to order your own tank-like concept, the development of prototypes was given to the companies LMSR (A14E1) and Nuffield ( A16E1 ). It was supposed to be a heavier fast tank multi-tower concept. The whole project was finally completed after several changes in the requirements of 1939.

A14E1 was built at LMSR. It had two machine gun turrets and a main turret armed with a 2-pound cannon. The vehicle weighed less than 30 tons and was powered by a Thornycroft engine with 500 horsepower. The complex chassis consisted of 12 small castors on each side, grouped two into carts. The outer carriages were sprung separately, both outer castors were slightly raised above the ground, the inner carriages were sprung in pairs. The belt revolved around eight return pulleys.

Characteristics and construction
The turret mounted on the fuselage armed with an anti-tank two-pound cannon (planned armament), machine guns were in two turrets at the level of the driver. Practically classic of that time construction from armor sheets riveted to angles (probably). The command dome is visible on the tower, probably immobile according to the photo.

Further development of type
According to some data, it seems that a prototype A14E2 was also built, but there are no more accurate data.
