Historie :
The Caudron C.710 was the next in a series of designs by Caudron's chief engineer, Marcel Riffard. The aforementioned engineer designed a prototype aircraft that was simple in design and also simple in manufacture. The prototype first flew on 18 July 1936. During 1937, the prototype was tested in Guyancourt and Villacoublay. However, an unfortunate event befell the prototype's flight test, during the test flights, the prototype crashed into the woods near Verrier on February 1, 1938. The second prototype produced, unlike the first, had a redesigned vertical tail surfaces. The Caudron C.710 never made it into series production, and so it actually became the forerunner of the later mass-produced Caudron C.714.
The Caudron C.710 was a low-level fighter aircraft of simple wooden construction. The machine had a fixed undercarriage. It was powered by a twelve-cylinder Renault R12-01 inverted engine with 500 hp. The engine drove a wooden three-bladed propeller, the speed of the aircraft was 455 km/h. Armament consisted of two Hispano-Suiza HS-9 20 mm fixed guns.
