Fiat-Ansaldo Carro Veloce 33 Passerella


Several Carro Veloce 33 tanks were built as bridge cars. There was a special superstructure on top of the vehicle to allow for the transport and laying of a 7-metre long bridge deck. The crew was able to prepare the bridge to the transport position in 7 minutes.

The photo below is from Army manoeuvres in 1936. Duce (the figure in the characteristic pose with his arms at his side) was shown using this particular bridge tank. In terms of production, it was the third most common variant after the machine gun (C.V. 33) and flamethrower (C.V. 33 Lf) versions.
