Field howitzer H 9 caliber 105mm

After the second world war, the Škoda Plzeň embarked on the development of a new field howitzer under the designation "H 9". This is a continuation of developmental ředy H, howitzers, was constructed for suspension dvouramenou lafetu, which allowed elevation angle - 5°to +70° gun arc of 60°. From the beginning it was equipped with drum zaměřevačem for firing operations direct support and optical sight for firing at armored targets. The peculiarity was that the gun was still designed for moto and hipo traction.

The barrel was made up of monoblokem with úsťňovou brake, brzdovratné device is of the fluid brake and the air vratníku and zpruhového balancer. Conclusion wedge horizontal featured poloautomatikou. Corporate tests are carried out at the turn of the years 1948-1949. The achieved performance of the howitzer: bullet weight 14,1 kg with a muzzle velocity of 550m/s of range 12 600 m. a Prototype of the cannon got into pre-production, but the decision on the unification of the whole project in 1950 swept away from the table.

Caliber: 105 mm
Barrel length: 2 350 mm (L/24,1)

105 mm howitzer H9
After World War II, our army switched to marking the calibre of the gun in mm. It was developed without regard to the Košice government program and therefore in a calibre one could say "western" and therefore the development of this weapon ended with the production and testing of a prototype in 1950.
The barrel consists of a cylindrical monoblock connected by a screw sleeve to the rear of the barrel and a screwed-on muzzle brake.
It has a torsion bar suspension axle. This suspension is eliminated by extending the lappet arms in the firing position. When firing, the howitzer was to stand on a circular support, thus eliminating the effect of tyre suspension during firing.

The BVZ (braking device) is mounted in the cradle. The liquid brake allows three lengths of slip (depending on the aiming angle) and also has a thermal volume change compensator for the brake fluid and the air spindle. There are two belt balancers on the sides of the cradle behind the shield.

The sights consist of an independent drum sight with a panoramic scope and an optical sight for direct fire.

The ammunition is split. It was envisaged to use an impact grenade with an igniter (instantaneous or delayed effect) a timing grenade with a double igniter, a smoke and a burst grenade with an instantaneous igniter.

The prototype of this howitzer was exhibited for many years in the so-called artillery shelter of the Schwarzenberg Palace. After the shelter was handed over to the Prague Castle Administration, the artillery collection was moved to the courtyard of the Invalid House. It is currently on display in the VTM in Lesany, sort of tucked under one ace and its mountain piece D 10.
