A special feature of the tank is the combination of a diesel engine with a turbine, depending on the terrain conditions. The tactical disadvantage is the absence of a tower in combat in urban areas or rugged terrain - the Swedes do not have much power, so they can afford a type that excels in low silhouette.
The 105mm cannon is a modified British L7. Turning the tank and therefore mainly by 90 ° takes 2-3 seconds, which is quite a decent result.
The engine is an eight-cylinder multi-fuel Rolls Royce K60 with a maximum output of 179 kW (not much) and a Boeing 553 gas turbine with an output of 365 kW. Swimming is provided by, among other things, inflatable nylon floats.

In 1986, there was an upgrade to the Strv 103C version with increased armor protection and better means of observing and controlling fire. This tank is undoubtedly an interesting type, which, however, did not have much room to use on the European battlefield, on the African continent (in the desert) it could be an effective weapon.

The shades are not obvious, but it can be assumed that the two-color camouflage finish probably represents summer black on a white background and the three-color or four-color version is a local finish with white cover.
