rozpoznání tří typů houfnic
Obice da 149/12 vs. Obice da 149/13

In my opinion, in our and foreign literature and on many websites, including ours, there are in many cases incorrect information about Italian howitzers from the period of the First World War. The Italian army used three types of howitzers with a similar designation and similar appearance.

Obice da 149/12 mod. 14
- German export weapon, systems Krupp Model 1913
- licensed production at Breda, other sources mention Ansaldo and others
- distinguishing mark: the barrel has three steps, the sleeve is located at the mouth
- Wehrmacht included howitzers in armament as: 15-cm sFH 400 (i)

Obice da 149/13 mod. 14, or Obice da 149/13
- prey Austro-Hungarian howitzer 15 cm Feldhaubitze M.14 M.14, or M.14/16, Škoda systems
- The Italian army did not distinguish between the two Austro-Hungarian guns
- distinguishing feature of version M.14: the barrel has two stages, without a sleeve
- distinguishing sign of version M.14/16: barrel slightly conical, sleeve located in the middle
- in the Italian version, the Wehrmacht included the howitzer in armament as: 15-cm sFH 401 (i)
- in the Austrian version, the Wehrmacht included the howitzer in armament as: 15-cm sFH 14/16 (ö)
- in Czechoslovakia. version, the Wehrmacht included the howitzer in the armament as: 15-cm sFH 14/16 (t)

According to Jiří Janoušek, the Italian army captured a larger number of Austro-Hungarian howitzers M.14 a M.14/16, which he then used. Several pieces of version M.14/16 received from the Italian army local artillery Czechoslovak group legions.
