IND - Trishul (samohybný protilietadlový raketový komplet)

Trishul: a short-range, all-weather anti-aircraft cruise missile. It is designed mainly against low-flying targets such as helicopters and aircraft with max speeds of 300-500 m/s. The anti-aircraft missile is available in land and naval launcher versions.
Development of the kit began in 1984.
The anti-aircraft kit is characterized by a short reaction time - between target detection and missile launch is a maximum of 6 seconds.
The guidance of the missile is by radar, by means of irradiation of the target (command-to-line-of-sight). The guidance system operates in the jamming-resistant 20-40 GHz range. Guidance is performed by means of three beams - in the initial phase the missile is guided to the target by a 'wide beam', in the middle phase by a 'medium beam' and in the final phase by a 'narrow beam'. The anti-aircraft missile has very good manoeuvrability. It is powered by a two-stage solid rocket motor, similar to the fuel used in Patriot missiles.

Basic tactical specifications:
Range: 300 m - 9000 m
3000 mm
Rocket diameter: 200 mm
Warhead weight: 5.5 kg (shatterproof with pre-shaped shrapnel).
Max. 300-500 m/s

The ground version of the system is mounted on the chassis of the Indian BMP Sarath(according to some sources, the system was also mounted on the chassis of the BMP-1). The actual equipment includes a surveillance radar, a guidance system and missiles. The ground version of the system (referred to as the Trishul Combat Vehicle (TCV) in English-language documents) was being developed to replace the PLRK 9K33 OSA in the Indian Army's arsenal. Successful trials of the ground version were conducted in February 2004 (February 2004) and October 2005 (October 2005) at the Chandipur firing range in the western Indian state of Orissa. Further trials were conducted in July 2006 (July 2006) along with the PLRK Akash. The firing of PLRK Trishul, along with PLRK Akash and Nag is expected to be completely completed by December 2007.
