TTD guns vz. 15
calibre : 37,2 mm
barrel length : 372 mm (10 calibre)
initial velocity of the projectile : 175 m/s
range : 2200 m
weight of the projectile : 0,65 kg
Max. aiming : + 45°
Aim : 5° to each side
weight : 118 kg
transport : 3 men or on a soumar.

The trench gun was designed to silence enemy machine guns and therefore did not need to have any dazzling firepower, it had a short barrelň (according to this it would actually be a howitzer) and was designed for direct fire. Easy portability for moving in the trenches was required (hence the 3 men) and dog sledding was experimentally tried. The gun is a Škoda system, but it was produced in ČKD in Vysočany, but also in other plants in the monarchy.

Dear all,
even a little note on the edge. My grandpa for this gun used the concept of: čim-bum or čin-bum. Registration of military nicknames, I'm not sure, but in principle, these two words indicate a description of the activities of weapons: shot and after a short flight explosion.

TTD cannon
- the austrian army name: 3,7-cm Infanteriegeschutz M.15
- the name, according to the Italian sources: a 3.7-cm M Schnellfeuer.15
- short: 3,7-cm IG M15
- Hungarian army name: nezjištěn

The weight in the carriage
- weapon in the unfolded state (the sum is not the same as Bitaxovým indication)
- barrel: 34,6 kg
- cradle: 25,3 kg
- pedestal: 24,4 kg

Ammunition
- the cartridge, dimensions in mm: 37x57 R
- tříštivá missile
- šrapnelová missile

Remedy was produced from 1915, used mainly explosive missiles (tříštivotrhavé grenades and shrapnel) further the projectile with tracer. In any source I haven't come across it that the cannon was using armor-piercing bullets (due to the low muzzle velocity it wasn't even). After the war was thanks to its mediocre performance probably fairly quickly eliminated.

The source I was mainly a book of Czechoslovak artillery weapons, the author Vladimir Karlický, issued in 1975 in publishing Our troops (edition MARS) ISBN n. a.

The book is also a source of the previous post, the author refers to the archives of the skoda, where there is an irregularity in the weight of the question, therefore, perhaps greater weight is the for cannon with wheels drawn by dogs, or is the gun the added weight of ammunition. The fact is that when the layout of the three parts is 118 kg lot (for one man would be based on around 40 kg), in theory this could be solved by transporting the guns in the military history institute, where appropriate, research documentation ibid..

3.7 cm Infanteriegeschütz M. 15

The field trench cannon M.15

When the first world war transitioned into the position of fighting, felt the infantry need artillery support for the destruction of fortified targets. The field artillery was, but for such needs very inaccurate and cumbersome. For this purpose it was first set aside the mountain of the cannon, but you were also very heavy. It turns out that the most effective is the direct shooting.
Therefore, it was in the R-U decided about the production of infantry guns. The design comes from a hot cannon 3.7 cm Gebirgskanone M.13. From this cannon was přebraná the barrel. The gun had a steel barrel with a wedge finish. Periskopický sight and it was as a whole mounted on a heavy tripod. For transport it was possible to cannon to equip the small wheels.

Guns should be in each regiment R-infantry, but most commonly the possession of the regiment only one gun. Service provided 3 men.

Diskuse

I'm interested in the cannons from Pilsen Zywoda and two things interested me about this trench gun.
1. The exhibits do not correspond at all with the period photos. The exhibits have, quite nonsensically, two supporting legs with footplates in front (the footplates are reversed) and one leg with an eye and shaft in the rear and the period photo has it the other way around and much more logical.
2. I saw a documentary on the DISCOVERY channel regarding WWI and trench warfare. According to this documentary, the trench gun had a periscope to allow the gunner to be at ground level (direct fire) and the gunner in the trench with his head below ground level. In the photos attached above, this assumes only a view over the shield.

Can someone please advise me?
