An improved version of the RKG-3M has a higher effect against armour.

In 2020, the Kiev Majak plant modified the grenade into a small bomb RKG-1600 by adding aerodynamic surfaces. These are printed on a 3D printer. The bomb is dropped from unmanned vehicles.
