T-55AK

Soviet command tank T-55AK produced under Czechoslovak license.

The reworking of the Soviet license documentation for Czechoslovak production conditions took place between 1968 and 1969. Production at the ZTS Martin plants took place between 1970 and 1980 and produced a total of 1,280 pieces. 144 pieces were intended for the Czechoslovak Army, the remaining tanks were exported. Between 1968 and 1980, command versions called the T-55A (K1) and T-55A (K2) were produced for ZTS Martin for the East German army. 130 of these designs were produced.

The main tactical and technical data and the main principles of operation are identical to the basic type T-55A.

Differences from version T-55A:
- there are 26 rounds for the cannon in the tank, the number of rounds for the coupled machine gun remained the same
- a radio station is built-in R-130 with accessories
- built-in charging petrol-electric set NS-1250B to ensure continuous operation of the command radio
- on the tower is mounted a case with a 10 meter semi-telescopic antenna for the radio station R-130
- in the bottom of the hull is the outlet of the NS-1250B unit

T-55AK

T-55AK is a modified T-55A tank designed for the needs of unit commanders. The tank is equipped with a connecting device that allows connection within the unit and with the superior commander. The tank was manufactured in the years 1968-1980 in a total of 1280 pieces. In addition to the basic version of the T-55AK, another 130 pieces marked T-55AK1 were produced based on the requirements of the GDR.

The tank is equipped with a pair of radio stations R- 123 and R-130, along with the internal call device R- 124. The power supply of the radio stations allows operation while driving and standing with the engine running, or when standing with the engine switched off when the separate charging unit is running. The basic TTU and driving characteristics are mostly the same as standard tanks T-55A except:
- the number of ammunition of the tank cannon reaches only 26 pieces (17 less than the standard version)
- installation of charging unit NS-1250B with switchboard ZR-1250B,
- in the bottom of the body is the outlet of the engine of the NS-1250B charging unit,
- on the tower is installed a waterproof tubular case with a layout of 10 m semi-telescopic antenna radio station R-130 in canvas packaging.

Radio station R-130 is located in the back niche of the tower on holders. These are welded to the lower armor of the tower. The converter for the needs of the radio station is behind the commander's seat. On the left side of the commander's seat is a radio station R-123. On the left side of the tower is a common antenna part for R-123 a R-130. At the bottom of the hull under the partition separating the engine and combat space is located recharging unit NS-1250B. The ZR-1250B switchboard is located on the engine bulkhead. When operating on site for the needs of the radio station R-130 it is possible to use a semi-telescopic antenna consisting of 8 duralumin tubes of different diameters - the lower, 6 m long telescopic part consists of 4 insertable rods. 4 rods of a common 4 m antenna (used separately while driving) are attached to them. Anchor ropes and pins for fixing the semi-telescopic antenna are stored in a canvas case on the engine bulkhead. The housing with the antenna can also be mounted on the rear of the body, above the chimney for underwater driving.

P. S .: some information is identical to the information given in previous posts.[/I]

Diskuse

So I quizzed the former. soldier OF and about this version of he knew enough. Tank commander T-55AK comes from T-55A with some modifications:

1) charging sets NS 1250B of the power of 1250 W at 2900 rpm. When the activities of the NS must tank stand and the engine is stopped. The exhaust fumes are really bottom of the bucket out.
2) is there a radio station R-130, R-123 and the set of R-124. Enough space took the power part of R-130. Is it for the command in its own unit and also with the superior commander of the higher degree.

Other differences: the rear part of the turret instead of the five rounds and brackets on the hub had been assembled R-130, any antenna holder+spare parts to all of this, the power supply part of the R-130 + R-123, an important table loader radio operator Shocked

Another was the case with the handles on the desetimetrovou antenna welded between the hatches on the tower. For fighting and wading with pouch made in the back above the chimney for a cruise. Inside the motor bulkhead instead of the 12 rounds and the brackets were put charging NS 1250B. At the bottom of the hull was the valve exhaust.

The crews of these the rovers are said to collect between the VZ enough carefully - no good boy there didn't want to loser and not smart. If this is true - who knows knows ...

I want to warn Beteer that if I still remember from the war, the command tank T-55AK had a battalion commander, regiment commander and division commander. In the tank battalion, the function of the charger and gunner was mostly performed by battalion scribes, while one of them was a graduate of the liaison primary school to be able to use R-130 and these scribes were mostly high school students, who also worked on the battalion staff as draftsmen. The weakest members of the tank crews were mostly shooters and chargers, who moved to the position of shooters after a year of service. I mostly experienced boys from eastern Slovakia or the Hungarian border (mostly Roma and it was something), maybe it was somewhere else I do not know, but I only say what I experienced for my services at 9.td.
