75 Squadron is the largest unit operating F/A-18 fighters in the RAAF. The squadron includes a large number of ground personnel to provide the necessary servicing due to the oiliness of the base. The unit is thus almost self-sufficient in supply and maintenance.

The location of Tindal Base in a remote area of the desert of northern Australia (near Darwin) allows the squadron to frequently fire a variety of air-to-ground missiles. Along with the 75th Squadron, it also regularly trains foreign air forces - the US, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand.
