CZE/ISR - Wildcat
Wildcat
An armored personnel carrier designed to transport personnel and other cargo across the battlefield. The vehicle is primarily designed for combat deployment in urban development and low-intensity conflict. It was developed based on the Israeli army's experience fighting Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The Wildcat was developed in collaboration between IMI (Israel Military Industries) and ATC (American Truck Company) and is based on a truck chassis Tatra 815-7. Its passive protection is designed modularly in the following stages:
- basic level - provides protection against 7.62 mm anti-tank projectiles
- Level 2 - provides protection against 14.5 mm calibre anti-tank projectiles
- Level 3 - consists of reactive armour and provides protection against anti-tank missile weapons
The maximum combat weight of the vehicle is 12 tonnes. It can accommodate up to twelve soldiers and is equipped with a filter-ventilation device to protect against the effects of weapons of mass destruction.
The price of the vehicle is expected to be between USD 500,000 and USD 600,000, which, according to IMI officials, is more than fifty percent less than the cost of the Stryker used by the US Army, which has similar manoeuvring and transport capabilities but less ballistic protection. The armament is housed in a WAVE unmanned gun turret located at the front of the vehicle.
The Wildcat was first introduced at the 2005 AUSA exhibition.
