JOKE 87 - surveillance radar and command post for fire control of air defense units.


It consists of two subsystems.
1. Subsystem "MOSTKA 87" (surveillance radar) - used for searching and tracking of air targets. It is mounted on the chassis of a Sisu XA-180 (Pasi) armored personnel carrier, with a Swedish GIRAFFE MK IV radar as the surveillance radar.


Tactical-technical data:
- operating frequency: 4-8 GHz
- antenna rotation speed: 30 rpm and 60 rpm
- max target altitude: 4-5 km
- max target range: 75 km
- max number of simultaneously tracked targets: 20
- antenna height above ground: 9-15 m
- system weight: 19 t


2. Subsystem "ITJOKE 87" (fire control workstation)- used for target assignment and fire control of subordinate firing units. The system is housed in an all-terrain vehicle, total weight 4.5 t.

The official designation of the system is Luftvärnets ledningscentral -87, while the actual radar is designated as Målspaningsradar 87 (Bridge 87).
