Ďalším vývojom rádiolokátoru boli vyvinuté rádiolokátory P-8 (kód NATO "Knife Rest A")a P-10 (kód NATO "Knife Rest B/C").

Dodávky radiolokátorů pokračovaly i v nadcházejícícm období, takže k 15. červnu 1955 radiotechnické hlásky disponovaly devíti exempláři P-3a. Společně s novými radiolokátory do Československa dorazili sovětští instruktoři, kteří prováděli výcvik a školení obsluh.

Z archivních fondů (VÚA Praha) 158. radiotechnického pluku (158.rtp) poskytl p. Martin Káňa informace o složení/podřízení radiotechnických hlásek (RTH) s původním číslováním a "převodní" tabulku nového číslování (3xx. RTH).
A tam je mj. uvedeno:
5.RTH = 304.RTU Lažany (P-20)
6.RTH = 305/1.RTH Čeradice (P-3A) + 7.RTH = 305/2.RTH Velichov (P-8)spolu tvořily 305.RTH Žatec

The following memories not only about the P-3A radar were kindly provided by Mr. Vladimír Hrubes:

"After graduating from the Air Force Junior Signal Specialist School, I joined RTH Zdiby at the end of August 1955 as a non-commissioned officer with a specialization in radar, with the classification of a meter band radar technician.

This was the P-3a radar.

Although this radar was simple in terms of functional units, it was a very demanding device in terms of maintenance and setting the necessary parameters.

Type P-3a was a search and at the same timeň also a guiding radar.

The antenna system consisted of two superimposed multi-element antennas used for transmitting and receiving. The azimuth was determined by the method of maximum amplitude of the received signal. The two side antennas were receiving antennas only and allowed to determine the azimuth by comparing the magnitude of the split signal of the detected target.

The display of the detected target was made on a picture tube of about 15 cm diameter with electrostatic deflection. On a linear time base, the range of the target was calculated from the displayed trigger (zero) pulse to the amplitude deflection of the detected target over a range of time base lengths of 75 and 150 km.

To obtain an overview of the detected targets and their tracking, their parameters were plotted on a planchette located in the instrument cabin.

Target altitude was determined using the goniometer by deflecting the transmit and receive vertical characteristics using the minimum target signal method. The detected angle and distance were used to read the height on the console chart.

The NRZ1 recognition system was included in the assembly of this radar.

The successor radar I worked with at RTH Zdiby was P-8. It was a successor to the P-3a type with a multi-element, two-storey antenna array.

A significant change in this type was its provision of a circular horizon indicator. An electronic screen 30-35 cm in diameter recorded the target signal synchronously with the rotation of the antenna. Its shield with a longer decay allowed continuous vision for determining target data. Distance was read from the center of the screen to the inner edge of the crescent-shaped footprint using a mechanical rotating ruler or electronic range circles. According to the order, this radar had a yield indicator with a cable connection to a distance of 30 m. The azimuth formed the centre of the track to the edge of the screen.

Altitude was determined in a similar manner to the P-3a radar (two indicators).

The radar also had elements of passive interference protection, which was an upgrade in the second variant, including the use of two repetition frequencies (50 and 100 Hz) to improve range resolution.

The interrogator was in the NRZ1 configuration.

Another radar I had the opportunity to work with was a P-10 type station.

After graduating from DTU Martin in 1957, I returned to Zdibi and worked with the P-15 radar in several upgraded versions. I recall using the characteristics of the successive wave tube at the input of the receive path and in the SDC system switching from a mercury variable delay line to a fixed delay line (better parameters and stability).

My work at RTH Zdiby lasted until the end of 1960. During this time, the
the site, the radar stations of the centimetre band were also rotated. The first was the P-20 Periscope radar, then a variant P-20 with an interrogator and a successive wave tube on the receiving path input. Lightweight parts of the antenna system, later P-30.

The observations and recollections given are for the period August 1955 to late 1960. In the following year I was transferred to the PLRV.

I worked in PVOS until I was 55 years old."

Jedním z prvních tří zasazených radiolokátorů (RL) P-3A v čs. letectvu byl u 5. letecké stíhací divize v Žatci.

01.05.1952 bylo u velitelství 5. letecké stíhací divize Žatec zřízeno divizní velitelské stanoviště / DVS (v budově štábu divize, v areálu letiště).

"Divize" obdržela "naváděcí" radiolokátor P-3A, jehož stanoviště bylo v katastru obce Velichov u Žatce.

Jednotka byla označena: Radiotechnická stanice velitelského stanoviště 5. letecké stíhací divize
(RTS DVS 5.
