The Madsen company offered this cannon to the army (and for export) in the late 1930s, the cannon was very similar to the Swedish Bofors cannon, but it was not a copy, rather just an inspiration. It was introduced in small numbers by the Danish army, the Germans used it in their troops after the occupation under the designation 3.7 cm Pak 164 (d)
