Mitsubishi 1MT1 Type 10

History:
The imperial naval air force after world war ii, wanted to become a strong and modern force and its aircraft carrier Hosho searched for a suitable aircraft. Help sought mainly for its ally Great Britain and so on it turned out in this case - needed on-board torpedo bomber.
At that time (early twenties), he worked in Japan, the chief designer is defunct british factory Sopwith Aircraft Co. Helbert Smith and him a group of designers and specialists, who already have designed and have constructed the first on-board aircraft for the japanese navy. Successful aircraft fighter Mitsubishi 1MF and exploratory Mitsubishi 2MR was built and used by the imperial naval air force for quite a long time.
However, this definitely couldn't say about the trojplošném pt bomber 1MT.

The aircraft was designed as a triplane, in order to achieve what may be the shortest runway for take-off. Recall that at the time katapultované take-offs took place. Trojplošná configuration had the aircraft to secure the necessary maneuverability.
Work on the construction of the prototype began in 1921 and has 9.8.1922 was made the first take-off. The first years ago, and the factory test prevedl british test pilot William Jordan, who in Japan came with Herbert Smith in November 1922 scanned the two prototypes of the naval base at Kasumigaura. Since December began testing aboard the Hosho, but although the aircraft was found for the on-board service too big and heavy, along with a small serial production, this gave a total of twenty aircraft. For aircraft it was a characteristic that accompanied the technical glitches throughout the entire period of his service. Too didn't pan out even a single concept for torpedo aircraft, which was to operate over the ocean.

Navy operation of this type of aircraft has gained probably the only the only possible silver lining - takes experience, which the technical department has allowed us to make and formulate the requirements for a more suitable successor, which was Mitsubishi B1M1 and also on the next design of the torpedo aircraft.

One aircraft was equipped with floats and used as a civilian even in 1926, when it served to transport passengers and also to the training.
