Armored truck based on a series of armoured vehicles XA-200.


Transporters XA-203 jetřínápravové armoured vehicle has permanent all-wheel drive, with the first two axles are říditelné. The wheels of the chassis are equipped with a central pumping.
All the wheels of the transporter have a steady drive and are equipped with a central pumping, the first two axles are říditelné. Tires have a size 14.00-20. In front of the welded hull is sitting on the left the driver of the car, to the right of him, then the commander. Both are available to both side doors and hatches with the hatches on the upper side of the hull.
Thanks to the use of stronger armor compared to the earlier versions XA-180 vehicle should resist from the front and from the sides of the slugs into the caliber of 14.5 mm. passive protection can be further increased by installing additional armor.
For the workplace of the commander and driver sa on the left is located the engine compartment bearing the drive unit Valmet 612 DWBIC and automatic transmission Allison. Drive unit with automatic transmissions are placed in one block, which allowed to reduce time of engine replacement from four hours of previous models for 30 minutes. The transporter is equipped with a by two fuel tanks with a total volume of 300 l. In the central parts of vehicles used by the Finnish army is equipped with a turret with a machine gun NSV and four zadýmovacími grenade launchers.


The vehicle is amphibious only if its immediate weight not exceeding 16 000 kg.


In July 1999, he was the Finnish army signed a contract for the supply of 48 personnel carriers XA-203. The vehicle was a rapid-response forces delivered in the years 2000 and 2001.


Another user happened to Norway, which in 1999 ordered 32 of the machines referred to (by the manufacturer) as the XA-203N. The transporters are intended to serve as a vehicle radiation and chemical survey.


So far, the last customer has become the Swedish army, which since 2001 has begun to use the first of a total ordered 150 vehicles. The swedes for them to use the designation PansarTerrängbil 203A (Patgb 203A), the designation of the manufacturer then added the XA-203S. Vehicles here have to serve as the OT, ambulance and workshops technical assistance. A substantial part of the cars intended for transportation of infantry is equipped with a Swedish-style towers with a cannon caliber of 20 mm.
