76 mm divisional gun vz. 1902/30 (76-мм дивизионная пушка обр. 1902/30) was constructed on the basis of the 76 mm field gun vz. 1902 (referred to in the Red Army as 76 mm divisional gun vz. 1902) at the Perm Plant under the direction of V.N. Sidorenko in 1930. This was not a new design, but modernization work that had already begun in the 1920s based on the Red Army's request for a new divisional gun. As the requirements for the new gun were changed several times and contradicted many times, the development was not easy for the designers. Between 1927 and 1930, more than two dozen different variants of the vz. 1902, with 3 variants shortlisted - the design from the Artillery Supply Trust (Орудийной арсенальный траст), konštrukcia zo Plant 7 "Arsenal" (Arsenal Plant (Perm Plant ) and finally a construction from Perm Plant . Despite the complexity of the design and the highest production costs, it was decided to mass produce the Perm Plant. The modernized cannon was introduced into the Red Army's armament in 1931 and was in production until 1937. In addition to divisional artillery, the cannon was also used in place of 76 mm regimental guns within regimental artillery (although regimental artillery was expected to use guns with barrels up to 30 calibres long).

As of 01.06. 1941, there were 2,411 of these guns in the Red Army (RKKA) arsenal, 1,164 of which were directly in the western frontier districts.

After the outbreak of war with the German Reich, some of the cannons fell prey to Germany and were placed in the armament of the German armed forces under the name 7.62 cm F.K.295(r). The Royal Romanian Army also included the cannons in its armament.
