The main representatives of the auxiliary weapons created for the Volkssturm were the previous model VG 1 and the Volkssturmkarabiner 98. However, in the final phase of the war, a number of other types were also created, including, in addition to repeating rifles, self-loading carbines and even breechloading weapons.
The VG 2 model shown here is almost unknown in the literature. It is a repeating rifle with a rotating cylinder breech. The breech housing is made of sheet steel, the rifle has a simple non-adjustable sight and a magazine from the G 43. The roughly machined gun for the Volkssturm is already revealed by its appearance, the parts had large manufacturing tolerances and only its functional surfaces were machined.
However, these weapons should not be underestimated - they were fireable and at shorter ranges reasonably accurate, and were simple and cheap to manufacture.
