This gun has been relatively little extended, and their performances greatly exceed the performances of the howitzers of the same caliber. Even its name, there are contradictory data. In the current foreign literature is usually neglected.

WH issued a specification for this weapon in 1938 and the weapon was introduced in 1941, although it met the conditions, but its construction was too fragile for field use (there were failures) the weapon was not popular and was produced in small numbers. The manufacturer was Rheinmetall-Borsig AG in Düsseldorf. Krupp also solved the weapon for the same task (based on the 17K cannon, but the projection was terminated (it is not known why).
