30mm automatic grenade launcher AGS-17
AGS-17 - Developed in the late 1960s in the then USSR, the weapon again works on the principle of using recoil energy when fired. The 30 x 29 mm ammunition is characterized by a much shorter shell compared to the "Western" ammunition, and therefore the shell has a lower initial velocity and ballistic range. The ammunition is designated VOG-17A and of its total weight of 350 g, a full 275 g is attributed to the actual fragmentation grenade with a pre-fragmented inner body and a sensitive impact fuze. The grenade has a smaller calibre compared to the "Western" 40 x 53 mm ammunition, but it is longer and has a higher weight (275 g compared to 240 g). The AGS-17 can be fired in single shots or in bursts with two selectable cadences of 50 to 100 rounds/min. or 350 to 400 rounds/min. The metal magazine contains a cartridge belt with a total of 29 rounds of ammunition. In addition to the infantry version with a three-legged base, the AGS-17 is mounted on vehicles, there is a helicopter container version with a 300-round magazine, and a grenade launcher stored in a rotating turret for surface vessels. The AGS-17 was produced in large numbers and has seen considerable proliferation around the world.
It is used to destroy live forces up to a distance of 1700 m by direct or indirect fire. the diameter of the area hit by the shrapnel is 14 m, the breech is dynamic with a liquid brake, the trigger is mechanical with a hydraulic firing pin, it also serves to change the cadence, the sight is PAG 17.
