Armoured Wickham Trolley, AWT
The Armoured Wickham Trolley, a narrow-gauge rail vehicle or armoured motor train of British origin, was manufactured by D.Wickham & Co. Limited in Ware, Hertfordshire, Great Britain.

These drays were supplied to the local administration in Malaysia (and not only there) during the Malayan Emergency and some of them reached other countries in the region including Vietnam...
Due to the very poor condition of the land (road, if that is even possible to say) roads, narrow gauge railway with a total length of 1,699 km was vital for the transportation of goods, passengers (memoirs describe that buying a train ticket was comparable in importance to buying a plane ticket to travel overseas) and was thus of strategic importance to Malaysia.[Therefore, the railway, as a transport route and the actual transportation that takes place on it, was a logical target for the communist insurgents.[/b
A total of 42 units were delivered to Malaya in 1952, but production numbers of surviving vehicles indicate a higher number of AWTs were produced. The trains were handed over to Malayan Railways Ltd (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad, KTM or KTMB) and operated under the name Tren Berperisai(armoured train).
The trains were used as search/escort units of passenger and freight trains, they operated independently to guard the railways against attacks by communist guerrillas and to fight them, and after their activities were suppressed they remained for a long time in the armament of the police and army forces.
The "vehicle" is equipped with a turret (with a modified entrance hole in the rear wall of its body), which was mounted on Ferret and Saracen armoured cars.

They are still maintained as museum exhibits:

- AWT with serial number 60 at the Royal Military Museum Muzium Tentera Darat in Port Dickson

TTD detected:
Armament: machine guns in turret (1 - 2x) and in gun ports (number unknown), turret searchlight and directional searchlights
Rail gauge: 1000 mm (3 ft 3.375 in)
Crew: 2 - 4 men
Weight: approximately 2000 kg (2,000 lbs)

I could not have done this post without the help of Jiří Tintěra, who did not hesitate to sacrifice his time, tracked down other sources, mined them for information of a technical nature and selflessly provided it to me.

Diskuse

AWT somewhere in Vietnam, the film dates from the Vietnam War, but it is impossible to specify whether it is used by French or American soldiers or members of the South Vietnamese army.
