The leaders of the International campaign for the abolition of nuclear weapons (ICAN) today in the Oslo took over the Nobel prize for peace. ICAN was awarded for the alarm on the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons and for his pioneering efforts to achieve their prohibition.
ICAN resulted in the emergence of a Treaty to ban nuclear weapons, to which, however, have joined the nuclear powers, but even other countries, including the Czech republic. Its opponents argue that the same objective can be achieved also in the framework of the international treaty on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
