An open military combat off-road vehicle destined to perform specific tasks of special forces. The vehicle is adapted for a crew of up to 5 people (4 permanently and 1 person on a seat in the area of the shooter's position from the main weapon).

The development of a special armored multi-purpose vehicle Perun intended for military and in the secondary role also police units was started in 2014. The first order came from the Czech Ministry of Defense in 2017.

The base of the car is formed by a ladder frame, to which a body welded from sheet steel is attached in a detachable way. Its components can be reinforced with removable ballistic protection according to user requirements. Armor protects the perimeter of the body and the underside of the vehicle against mines and various explosive systems. Folding windscreens also have the required ballistic resistance. The permanent all-wheel drive of the chassis is ensured by an in-line, water-cooled, supercharged six-cylinder diesel engine via a six-speed automatic transmission and differentials with shutters. The engine compartment can be equipped with an automatic fire extinguisher. Wheels with tires fitted with running rims and with the possibility of inflating tires while driving are mounted on independently suspended half-axles with reductions. The front and rear damping of the movement of the half-axles in the range of 300 mm consists of a combination of air and spring suspension and fluid dampers, which is integrated into the system units mounted on the underbody of the vehicle. The chassis suspension system allows height adjustment in the range of 100 mm, while the change can be made up to 90 s even while driving. The brake system consists of disc brakes, a parking brake and an emergency disc brake controlled by a dual-circuit air system. The control system equipped with boosters for both axles controls the steering of the wheels of the front and rear axles (rear axle up to a speed of 30 km/h, for the Czech army a chassis version without a steerable rear axle was ordered).

The combat area of the vehicle is divided into a station for the driver, passenger, main gunner and two crew members. In addition, the vehicle allows the wounded to be transported on a stretcher in a horizontal position. The basic armament, a machine gun up to 12.7 mm caliber or an automatic grenade launcher up to 40 mm caliber, is mounted in a rotating circle above the center of the vehicle on a tubular frame. It also serves as protection of the crew when the vehicle overturns and can be attached to a tarpaulin roof, camouflage net, headlights, smoke grenade launchers, or other weapons and equipment (jammers of booby-trapped explosive systems) according to customer requirements. In the case of an order for the Czech Army, it was, for example, a HARRIS RF-7800M-V150 vehicle intercom with an AN/PRC-117G radio, a WBS 2500 jammer and a ruggedized military computer.

According to the requirements of the Czech Army, the vehicle should be transportable (without the need for major modifications) by NATO aircraft of the type CH-47 Chinook (in the undercarriage and cargo space) and C-130 Hercules (in cargo bay).

Tender for the supply of special military 4x4 off-road combat vehicles (wheeled open vehicles with mine and ballistic protection) for the needs of 601. of the special forces group was launched on June 8, 2016. Of the five registered bidders, only two finally submitted a specific bid: SVOS and GTC CZ. VOP CZ was then excluded from the tender for non-compliance with technical and tactical requirements and for a higher offer price (CZK 133,511,633 without VAT). The winner was the company SVOS with its type Perun ST. The contract for the supply of four of these vehicles (then named ARM 7 - Soft Top) together with the required logistical support and accessories for CZK 94,628,522 with VAT (CZK 78,205,390 without VAT) was concluded on March 7, 2017. The vehicles were to be delivered in yellow sand. camouflage. The deadline for terminating the contract was set for November 30, 2018.

Military tests of the Perun vehicle took place from July 23 to October 7, 2018.In the course of them, however, it turned out that the car shows a number of deviations from the contractual conditions. Therefore, the date of the examinations was extended by the Chief of the ACR General Staff until June 30, 2019, in order to eliminate the identified deficiencies. However, the required result was not achieved by this date and according to the statement of the Ministry of Defense Perun did not pass 85 percent of the evaluated tests.

For this reason On 9 August 2019, the Ministry of Defense unilaterally withdrew from the purchase agreement of 7 March 2017 with [url=/topic/view/106543] SVOS, spol . s r.o. for the acquisition of 4 pieces of combat vehicles of special forces Perun. However, the company in question argued that the car met the specified parameters, but that the entire course of military tests was non-standard and did not comply with the binding regulations of the Ministry of Defense. It is therefore prepared to defend itself in legal terms in order to complete the military tests in accordance with the purchase agreement.
