Fighters of the Taliban conducted the attack on the military base in Mazar-e Šarífu. The attack has taken on 140 dead and 160 injured. It happened in the time of prayer, when most of the soldiers unarmed and praying. The attackers were wearing uniforms of the army and at least some of them at the base not long before served. It is further considered that in the ranks of soldiers operating on the base had at least one, but rather more of their people (the Taliban stated that it was about 4 people). The attack was made initially two suicide bombers who blew up, but at the other gates, because only they were exposed. After it booted up at least 6 to 8 other invaders (out of a total of about 10), two other suicide attackers then had to blow even in the mosque. One assailant had been captured by the army. The event was to be retaliation for the death of several previously killed senior members of the Taliban.
